Sanrio to hold a character creation workshop with its designers in Shibuya, Tokyo

On March 26, 2026, Sanrio held Creative Door Presented by Sanrio, a workshop for upper elementary school students, at FabCafe MTRL in Shibuya, Tokyo.

The workshop gave participants a behind-the-scenes look at how Sanrio designers create new characters. Working alongside Sanrio designers and fellow participants, they transformed their ideas into original character concepts. Inspired by a variety of words and themes, they brought their creations to life using familiar materials such as fabric and yarn, discovering the joy of creativity through the hands-on experience.

To fulfill its corporate philosophy of "Minna Nakayoku" (Getting Along Together), Sanrio has identified 10 global material issues, known as the Sanrio Materiality, that it is committed to addressing.

This workshop was planned and organized as one of Sanrio's initiatives under Sanrio Materiality #2: “Democratizing Creativity”. Leveraging the company's creative strengths, the workshop was designed with the hope of helping more people discover the joy of creativity.
